   Prosperity Feng Shui - Part 1

Enhancing prosperity seems to be on almost everyone's feng shui wish list. If it's not on yours, congratulations: you've either achieved a comfortable level of financial success, or have a very healthy and liberated relationship with money! For the rest of us, issues of financial stability and cash flow are among those life aspects that we wish to improve. The next few issues of this newsletter are going to focus, therefore, on prosperity and on how feng shui can help.

First, you'll need to find a prosperity power spot within your home. Prosperity is associated wtih hsun gua*, which is about "Fortunate Blessings" in all forms. This is the area of your home often referred to as the "wealth corner" although technically it is more than just your finances. When we place the ba gua according to the compass, hsun gua is the southeast sector of the home. When the ba gua is placed according to the front door, hsun gua is the left rear corner of the space. While I generally prefer the doorway orientation, I like to keep an eye on compass directions as well. One technique I've found helpful is to look for areas of overlap between the two methods. Follow these steps:

1. Look at which rooms are in the back left and the southeast area of your home, and compare them. Perhaps one space is a back hall or storage room, and the other is the kitchen or living room of the home. Choose the more public, more attractive, less cluttered, and/or brighter space to work with. Your choice may be obvious, or you may need to choose intuitively between two fairly similar spaces. (If the back left section of your home happens to be in the southeast, you won't have to make a choice. Just use this powerful area for prosperity cures.)
   
   
2. Use the other method to find hsun gua within that particular room. For example, if your living room is in the southeast, you've defined that selection by the compass. Now find the left rear corner of that room: that's hsun gua within the room, based on the doorway. Or, if you chose a room in the back left corner of the house (orienting the ba gua to the front door), now find the southeastern area within that room. This will be your prosperity power spot.
   
   
3. Within the selected area of your chosen room, find a spot for feng shui enhancement. This could be a fireplace mantle, an end table beside the couch, a bookcase shelf, a deep windowsill, or a wall area where you could hang a painting or photograph, etc. Clear it out and dust or wash it, as necessary.
   
   
4. Look around your home for an object or image that represents prosperity to you. It doesn't have to be expensive, although an object of value will have a prosperous "vibe." If you don't love it, don't choose it, no matter how expensive it might be! Avoid sharp metal objects, as this energy is damaging to the wood element associated with hsun gua. Metal coins, however, are fine.
   
   
5. Place this object in your prosperity power spot. Take a few quiet moments to meditate on the blessings and prosperity you have already received (you do have a roof over your head, right? and food in the fridge, and plenty of clothes to wear, so be thankful!). Extend feeling into the future, so that you are filled with gratitude for blessings that are coming your way.

Receiving blessings is half of a cycle, of which giving is the other side, so I'd also like you to look around your home for something to give away. You don't have to part with precious heirlooms or favorite items, but do look for something to which you attach some value. Give it away, either to a relative or friend you know will appreciate and use it, or to the local charity of your choice. When you give freely and with love, abundance will more easily flow your way.
